Even were the current proposal voted through, the name of ”actuary” will still not be reserved, just “chartered actuary”.  Despite it being publicly claimed that some unqualified people call themselves actuaries, this must be rare; how many has anyone met? More important, how much harm has been done? Adding “chartered” to the name is no protection. Nor will it protect access to “actuarial work” (very hard to define).
