Not having access to detailed discussions, I have inferred that this matter stems from unbalanced mutual recognition agreements. This has become publicly known because IFoA has been found guilty of discrimination, of which they were well aware. If UK actuaries can be granted a better status than Fellow, it may be that the problem will go away. If there are other reasons, I’d love to be able to publish them, especially if IFoA share them.
